Product Manager, Airspace & Autonomy – DoorDash Air

Own the product vision that puts autonomous drone delivery into the DoorDash marketplace at scale.

DoorDash Air is building the aircraft, autonomy stack, airspace services, and operational systems required to move orders from merchant readiness through autonomous flight and final delivery. As Head of Product for Airspace & Autonomy, you will define how every order interacts with aircraft availability, weather, airspace constraints, fleet orchestration, and human oversight—while keeping safety, regulatory compliance, and unit economics at the center of every decision.

You will set the long-term strategy and roadmap across safety-critical software, cloud services, onboard autonomy, mission planning, UTM capabilities, operator tools, and deep integrations with the broader DoorDash platform. This is an end-to-end ownership role that spans technical architecture, cross-functional prioritization, build-versus-partner choices, and measurable business outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

• End-to-end product strategy for aircraft software, cloud services, operational tooling, and marketplace integrations that turn a customer order into a completed autonomous delivery.
• Autonomy roadmap leadership covering mission and path planning, contingency behaviors, detect-and-avoid integration, vehicle health, payload handling, landing/delivery behaviors, and remote assistance.
• Progressing operations from 1:1 supervised flights to multi-aircraft m:N models—defining exception management, alert prioritization, task allocation, fleet orchestration, and human-autonomy interfaces.
• Data strategy for geospatial, terrain, obstacle, weather, airspace, population-risk, connectivity, and landing-zone layers (build, license, partner, or generate via fleet).
• UTM and airspace product requirements: operational-volume generation, strategic/tactical deconfliction, dynamic rerouting, authorization, constraint management, conformance monitoring, and interoperability with service providers and public systems.
• Standards leadership and compliance—actively engaging in ASTM work (F3201 software, F3548/F3411 UTM) and translating Part 135, BVLOS, safety cases, and emerging Part 108 concepts into reusable software, data, workflow, and audit capabilities.
• Build/buy/partner decisions grounded in differentiation, integration risk, economics, and time-to-market.
• System-level KPIs spanning delivery success, order-to-dispatch time, route efficiency, intervention rates, operator-to-aircraft ratios, utilization, availability, regulatory conformance, and cost per delivery.
• Connecting technical investment to customer experience, operational scale, and long-term unit economics while coaching engineers on how their work enables safe, scalable drone operations.

You will partner closely with the Head of UTM, senior Engineering and Operations leaders, systems engineering, flight operations, safety, regulatory, data, and DoorDash platform teams. The role is not pure coordination; it requires deep technical fluency, standards credibility, and the ability to make informed trade-offs and hold teams accountable for an integrated system.

Ideal background includes 10+ years of product or systems leadership on complex software or cyber-physical platforms, 5+ years in autonomous systems/robotics/UAS/aviation or other highly regulated real-world environments, and a track record of taking products from concept through validation, deployment, and scale. Strong fluency across mission planning, path/motion planning, perception, localization, guidance & control, contingency handling, simulation, telemetry, and command-and-control is expected, along with working knowledge of UTM, geospatial data, FAA-regulated environments (Part 107/135/108, BVLOS, USS services), and human-supervised or multi-vehicle autonomy.

This position can be remote with periodic travel to engineering, flight-test, integration, and operational sites. You will help shape the technical organization needed to scale beyond individual experts and deliver the next generation of last-mile logistics.
