Job Description
About the Role
Google is hiring a Senior Product Manager to own the product strategy behind Android's power and performance experience — the systems that determine how long a phone's battery lasts and how smoothly billions of devices run every day. This is a high-impact, cross-functional role sitting at the center of Google's mobile operating system business, working directly with engineering teams, OEM hardware partners, and the developer ecosystem that builds on Android.
You'll take ownership of a multi-year roadmap spanning battery life, standby power management, and long-term system health across the full range of Android device tiers — from flagship phones to budget hardware used by billions of people worldwide. This isn't a feature-level PM role: you'll be setting the direction for a foundational layer of the world's most widely used mobile operating system, and your decisions will be felt by over 3 billion active Android devices.
What Makes This Role Different
Android's scale means no single feature or fix moves the needle alone. Success here comes from building a joint long-term roadmap in deep partnership with OEM manufacturers and app developers, aligning dozens of stakeholders around a shared definition of "good" performance, and translating messy, cross-organizational technical tradeoffs into a roadmap that engineering can actually execute against. You'll regularly brief Android leadership on strategy and progress, so strong executive communication skills matter as much as product instinct.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and evolve the multi-year product strategy for Android power and performance across the entire device ecosystem
- Build a joint roadmap in close partnership with OEM hardware manufacturers and third-party app developers
- Identify gaps in developer tooling and insights that affect app quality, with particular focus on low-end and budget devices
- Translate complex, cross-team technical performance issues into a clear, prioritized roadmap for engineering
- Present strategy and progress in business reviews with senior Android leadership
- Partner cross-functionally with engineers, designers, and marketers to ship OS-level improvements that reach billions of devices
What You'll Need
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
- 8+ years of product management or related technical experience
- 3+ years taking technical products from concept to launch (0-to-1 experience)
- Experience managing products for operating systems and consumer electronics
- Familiarity with application development frameworks and tools
Nice to Have
- 5+ years presenting technical strategy to executive leadership
- 5+ years in software development or engineering
- Experience working directly with OEM hardware partners
- Background in mobile app development
- Experience leading execution within large, complex operating systems similar to Android

Google backs this role with a comprehensive, market-leading total rewards package:
- Base salary: $192,000 – $278,000 USD
- Bonus: 20% annual bonus target
- Equity (Google Stock Units)
- Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage
- Strong retirement and savings benefits
- Ongoing learning and professional development support
