Job Description
About the Role
Kroger — America's largest grocer, operating nearly 2,800 stores across 35 states — is looking for a Product Manager to join its Technology & Digital organization in Blue Ash, OH. This is an on-site role focused on owning and evolving Kroger's product catalog: the backbone that connects what customers search for, see, and buy across Kroger's digital and in-store experiences.
You'll sit at the center of a classic retail-tech challenge — turning messy, high-volume product data into a fast, accurate, and delightful shopping experience for millions of customers. Expect a role that blends roadmap ownership, cross-functional influence, and hands-on metric-driven decision-making inside one of the largest matrixed organizations in American retail.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and continuously evolve the product catalog roadmap, balancing near-term delivery against a 1–2 year vision that ties back to broader company and business-unit strategy
- Translate stakeholder needs across the Kroger matrix into clear, prioritized product requirements and future enhancements
- Build and maintain a groomed, prioritized backlog, applying Agile principles to keep delivery predictable and transparent
- Identify and track the metrics that matter — customer loyalty signals, web analytics, and internal operational data — and use them to sharpen the product vision
- Define Minimum Viable Product criteria to accelerate how quickly new capabilities and enhancements reach customers
- Partner with engineering, design, and non-technical stakeholders from concept through launch, then measure outcomes and iterate
- Spot opportunities to build best-in-class catalog capabilities by combining customer feedback with internal team expertise
- Build genuinely collaborative relationships across Kroger's cross-functional technology and business teams
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent foreign credential) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Business, Marketing, or a closely related field
- 3+ years bringing customer-facing technology products to market
- 3+ years in software development, product management, or business analysis, including hands-on work analyzing, developing, and shipping new or enhanced digital products
- 3+ years in a product management leadership capacity
- Experience identifying KPIs and using data to improve customer and user experience
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills in English
- Working experience with Agile methodologies
Preferred Qualifications
- No additional preferred qualifications were specified by the employer beyond the minimum requirements above
If you enjoy untangling large-scale data problems in a customer-obsessed, high-volume retail environment — and want your product decisions to directly touch the daily lives of millions of shoppers — this is a role worth a close look.
Job Benefits
Kroger rounds out this role with a benefits package built around physical, emotional, financial, and career well-being:
- Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and prescription coverage through company or collective-bargaining plans
- Flexible scheduling with paid holiday and sick time based on eligibility and tenure
- Free, confidential counseling and financial coaching through the Employee Assistance Program
- Associate discounts on groceries, travel, and technology purchases
- Up to $21,000 in tuition reimbursement over a career through Kroger's Continuing Education program
- Access to industry-leading training programs and diverse internal career pathways
