Product Manager, Public Investing (VP)

Job Description

Goldman Sachs is hiring a Vice President-level Product Manager to join the Asset & Wealth Management Strategic Transformation Office, focused on the firm's Public Investing platforms. This is a senior, high-visibility mandate: the successful candidate will own product strategy and execution as the firm consolidates fragmented investment systems into a single, AI-enabled operating platform spanning research, portfolio management, trading, and risk analytics.

This role sits at the intersection of asset management domain expertise and modern product leadership, reporting into a team that also spans Design and Change Management. Expect close collaboration with Investment, Distribution, Operations, and Technology leadership across a business that oversees more than $3.5 trillion in assets under supervision.

Key Responsibilities

• Set product strategy and roadmap informed by market dynamics, competitive positioning, and internal stakeholder needs
• Own the full product lifecycle — from early ideation through launch, adoption, and iterative improvement
• Break large, ambiguous initiatives into scoped, sequenced features that extend platform capability
• Write and prioritize clear product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria for engineering and QA
• Partner with a broader product organization to spot cross-platform opportunities and avoid architectural duplication
• Define and track adoption, usage, and client-satisfaction metrics, feeding results back into prioritization
• Lead and shape the firm's AI roadmap across investing functions and platforms
• Coordinate with third-party vendors and drive outcomes independent of direct authority

Requirements

• At least 7 years of product management experience within financial services, specifically asset management
• Working knowledge of financial instruments and the full investment lifecycle — front, middle, and back office
• Hands-on experience across the software development lifecycle: inception, analysis, design, review, testing, deployment (Agile)
• Strong analytical instincts — comfortable turning market and usage data into concrete decisions
• Proven ability to translate technical architecture into language non-technical stakeholders can act on
• Track record delivering cross-functional software projects on time and within budget
• Excellent written and verbal communication across technical and business audiences

Preferred

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
• Demonstrated comfort resolving ambiguous, open-ended problems and setting a clear path forward
• Understanding of distributed systems and how to design for scale
• Familiarity with best practices in coding, testing, and system design standards
