Job Description
About the Role
FIS is looking for a Product Manager Principal to take ownership of its Tax Reporting Compliance product line, a mission-critical suite serving financial institutions, brokerages, and cost-basis service providers across the United States and Canada. This is a senior, high-visibility role for a product leader who is equally comfortable reading regulatory text as they are shaping a multi-year roadmap.
You'll sit at the intersection of product strategy, tax and securities regulation, and client delivery — translating shifting IRS and CRA requirements into product capabilities that keep thousands of institutional clients compliant, informed, and ahead of filing deadlines. The team you're joining manages a legacy-but-vital suite (formerly known under different branding) that has become the backbone of tax information reporting for a large slice of the financial services industry.
What You'll Own
- Roadmap & Regulatory Alignment: Partner with the Solution Manager to build and evolve a product roadmap that reflects regulatory change, market demand, and long-term product line strategy — balancing lifecycle stage, profitability, pricing, and client satisfaction in every decision.
- Cross-Line Strategy: Work alongside product managers and subject-matter experts across multiple FIS business lines to execute a coordinated strategic plan for the entire tax reporting product family.
- Compliance Leadership: Shape and implement internal policy so the product suite stays aligned with evolving tax reporting regulation — coordinating directly with internal compliance functions on behalf of the business.
- Executive & Client Engagement: Serve as a regular point of contact for senior management and executive stakeholders on tax reporting product and client relationship matters, and support front-line client teams in crafting accurate, defensible responses to complex inquiries.
- Thought Leadership: Author white papers and industry presentations that position FIS — and you — as a credible voice on tax information reporting.
- Ecosystem Building: Consult across FIS business lines to help unify common tax reporting functionality into a more cohesive product ecosystem.
What Makes This Role Different
Most product manager roles ask you to interpret customer requirements. This one also asks you to interpret federal and cross-border tax law — specifically requirements tied to Internal Revenue Code (IRC) Section 6045 and the Canadian Income Tax Act — and turn that into a product roadmap the market can actually use. It's a rare blend of regulatory fluency, commercial judgment, and product execution, and it comes with the seniority (and compensation) to match.
What You Bring
- A bachelor's degree in mathematics, accounting, taxation, or a related field — or an equivalent blend of education, training, and professional experience
- Typically 10+ years in financial services, ideally in product management, with demonstrated leadership and management capability
- Working knowledge of tax information reporting requirements and the products/processes built around them
- A track record of aligning strategic policy with organizational goals and regulatory compliance
- Proven success building and maintaining client relationships and stakeholder trust at a senior level
- Strong executive presence and the communication skills to operate confidently at every level of the organization, internally and externally
- A law degree with exposure to tax reporting regulation, white papers, or consulting work is a plus
- In-depth familiarity with FIS's own Tax Information Reporting product suite is preferred but not required
Who Should Apply
This role suits a Principal or Director-level Product Manager from fintech, banking, brokerage, or tax/compliance technology who wants to move from feature ownership to category ownership — shaping how an entire product line responds to regulatory change across two countries. If you've ever wished your product decisions carried the weight of policy decisions, this is that job.
