Job Description
Mattel Digital Studios is hiring a Product Manager to help shape how fans, families, and collectors connect with brands like Barbie, Hot Wheels, and American Girl outside the toy aisle. This sits on the Digital Experiences team, which builds the fan platforms, physical-to-digital extensions, and reusable digital infrastructure that turn one-off marketing moments into products people keep coming back to.
It's a role for someone who can operate on both ends of the product spectrum: launching something from a blank page, and also taking an existing platform and figuring out how to grow it. You'll work across brand, design, engineering, legal, and analytics teams, and you'll be expected to bring both product instinct and business judgment to the table — this role owns not just what gets built, but why it's worth building.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the full lifecycle of digital experiences built on Mattel IP — from early discovery and opportunity sizing through launch and post-launch iteration
- Take new concepts from zero to one: define the MVP, get it launch-ready, ship it, and iterate based on what you learn
- Build the business case behind each initiative — audience opportunity, value proposition, revenue model, investment needs, and risk — and use it to align senior stakeholders around funding and priority calls
- Manage already-live digital platforms with an eye toward better engagement, retention, monetization, and operating efficiency
- Translate brand strategy and audience research into concrete requirements — roadmaps, briefs, user stories, and the metrics that define success
- Weigh opportunities on audience value, feasibility, monetization potential, and how reusable the underlying capability is across brands
- Track the numbers that matter — engagement, retention, conversion, revenue lift, and cost — and use them to recommend whether something should scale, get reworked, or get shut down
- Produce the documentation that keeps cross-functional work moving: product briefs, PRDs, experiment plans, launch plans, and post-launch readouts
- Partner closely with design, engineering, analytics, legal, privacy, and brand teams to ship consumer-facing work that actually holds up
- Keep a pulse on where digital product, AI, and fan-engagement trends are heading, and flag what's relevant to Mattel's roadmap
Requirements
- 5+ years of product management experience shipping consumer-facing digital products — apps, platforms, services, ecommerce, fan communities, or subscriptions
- A track record of taking something from idea to launch to growth — with real numbers behind the impact, whether that's adoption, retention, revenue, or operational improvement
- Sharp product strategy instincts: defining the actual customer problem, sizing the opportunity, shaping an MVP, and making calls without perfect information
- Experience tying product decisions directly to business outcomes — revenue, margin, retention, first-party data, or brand value
- Comfort building business cases and executive-ready materials for new or scaling digital products
- Strong analytical judgment — knowing what to measure, how to read the results, and when to scale, pivot, or kill something
- Communication skills that flex between a working session with engineers and a readout to senior leadership
- Execution discipline: planning, vendor coordination, dependency tracking, and follow-through under real deadlines
- Experience operating inside agile product cycles, from discovery through post-launch optimization
Preferred
- Background in entertainment, consumer products, family/kids products, DTC, or branded digital experiences
- Experience working with licensed or franchise IP
- Familiarity with app stores, live operations, CRM, community platforms, or digital commerce
- Hands-on experience with A/B testing, funnel analysis, or cohort analysis
- Experience managing external agencies, software vendors, or development studios
- Understanding of privacy and safety considerations for products reaching kids or families
- Comfort using AI-assisted tools for research, prototyping, or execution
