Job Description
General Dynamics is hiring a Product Management Analyst to take ownership of data products inside one of the federal government's largest technology and mission-services organizations. This is a build-and-own role: you sit between data engineers, governance stewards, and business stakeholders, turning raw data needs into a prioritized backlog that actually ships. If you like working close to the data — writing SQL to validate what you're shipping, defining what "done" means for a dataset, and running the Scrum ceremonies that keep a data platform team honest — this role is built for you.
You'll inherit a growing portfolio of data products: pipelines, quality rules, dashboards, and catalog entries that feed decision-making across a federal enterprise. Rather than managing a single app or feature, you're managing the plumbing and the trust layer underneath it — the part of the data stack that decides whether anyone downstream can actually rely on what they're looking at.
Key Responsibilities
- Set and maintain the product roadmap for a portfolio of data products — pipelines, quality rules, reporting layers — tied to measurable business outcomes, not a feature wish list.
- Turn governance and stakeholder requirements into epics, features, and user stories with acceptance criteria clear enough that an engineer could pick them up without a follow-up meeting.
- Run the full cadence of Scrum ceremonies — sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, reviews, retros — and hold the line on Definition of Ready and Definition of Done.
- Write and review SQL to validate datasets across environments, so quality claims are backed by evidence, not assumptions.
- Partner directly with data engineers on ingestion, transformation, and orchestration decisions, and translate those trade-offs into plain language for non-technical stakeholders.
- Work inside a data governance framework — stewardship workflows, naming standards, certification steps — and use a data catalog tool (Collibra or similar) to track lineage, metadata, and data-quality scorecards.
- Define and report on product metrics: adoption, data-quality scores, SLA compliance, and performance, so leadership can see whether the platform is earning its keep.
- Lead discovery sessions with stakeholders who often disagree about priorities, and leave those sessions with a decision, not just a list of opinions.
- Produce the artifacts that keep a data program legible to outsiders: data dictionaries, business-rule documentation, lineage diagrams, and release notes.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in business, information systems, computer science, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- At least 3 years managing data-centric products — analytics, governance, or data engineering — with a track record of shipped, adopted work.
- Working SQL fluency; you should be comfortable validating a dataset yourself rather than taking an engineer's word for it.
- Hands-on experience running Scrum end-to-end, including writing stories with acceptance criteria that hold up under scrutiny.
- Strong written and verbal communication — this role sits at the intersection of engineering, governance, and the business, and all three groups need to understand you.
Preferred
- Direct experience with Collibra or another enterprise data catalog — metadata management, lineage tracking, stewardship workflows, or data-quality scorecards.
- Familiarity with modern cloud data stacks (AWS or Azure, data lakes or warehouses, orchestration tools) and comfort working alongside data architects and analysts.
- Background supporting federal, healthcare, or other large regulated data programs, where "good enough" governance isn't actually good enough.
This is a remote role with a preference for candidates based in the DMV area, inside a company that runs technology and mission services for nearly every major U.S. federal agency. If you want product-management work that's measured by whether the data can be trusted — not just whether a feature shipped — this is worth a close look.

General Dynamics backs this role with a federal-contractor benefits package built for people who plan to stay a while:
- Medical, dental, and vision plan options, including Health Savings Account eligibility
- 401(k) with company match, pre-tax and post-tax contribution options up to IRS limits
- 15 days of paid leave per year plus 10 paid holidays (prorated by start date)
- Up to 160 hours of paid family leave in a rolling 12-month period
- Short- and long-term disability coverage
- Life insurance, AD&D, and personal accident coverage
