Job Description
NIKE, Inc. is hiring a Senior Director, Global Footwear Product Management to sit on its Converse brand team and own the strategic direction of Converse's entire global footwear business. Based at Converse's Boston headquarters, this is one of the most senior product seats on the team: the person in this chair sets the multi-year vision for every footwear franchise and category Converse sells worldwide, and is accountable for turning that vision into product that moves the needle both commercially and culturally.
Converse has spent more than a century turning a basketball shoe into a global symbol of self-expression, and this role exists to keep that legacy growing without losing its edge. The Senior Director will build and run a team of global product managers and directors, working hand-in-hand with Design, Development, Sourcing, Merchandising, Consumer Insights, Marketing, Commercial, and the Regional Business teams to keep the footwear portfolio sharp, relevant, and genuinely differentiated in a crowded sneaker market.
This isn't a "manage one category" job. It's a seat that touches everything from early line planning to full commercialization, and it reports directly into decisions that shape how Converse shows up globally for the next several years.
Key Responsibilities
- Set the global footwear strategy and build a multi-year roadmap spanning Converse's core franchises and categories
- Rationalize an already broad product portfolio — cutting noise, sharpening focus, and making sure every product earns its place on the roadmap
- Build out franchise growth plans, product ladders, and pricing architecture, while actively hunting for whitespace the brand isn't yet playing in
- Turn consumer behavior data, marketplace trends, competitive intelligence, and cultural signals into product briefs the wider organization can rally behind
- Partner closely with Design, Development, Sourcing, Merchandising, Marketing, Commercial, and Regional teams to keep the global portfolio aligned with what local markets actually need
- Own the product creation gate process — reviews, prioritization calls, and milestone tracking from early development through full commercialization
- Coach and grow a bench of product managers and directors, building a culture that rewards accountability, curiosity, and real cross-functional collaboration
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field (an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will also be considered)
- 10+ years of progressively senior experience in footwear, apparel, or broader consumer products
- At least 5 years specifically leading global product management or merchandising teams
- A track record of running large, multi-category global product portfolios — and of building franchises that actually scale
- Deep, practical knowledge of footwear creation, merchandising, product lifecycle management, and commercialization inside a global, matrixed company
- Based in or willing to relocate to Boston, MA — this is an on-site role, not remote or hybrid
Preferred
- An MBA or other advanced business degree
- Experience turning cultural and streetwear/lifestyle trends into commercially successful product, not just performance-category thinking
- A history of influencing senior stakeholders with clear, data-backed business cases rather than opinion alone
- Comfort making real trade-off calls — what gets built, what gets cut, what gets scaled — in a fast-moving, globally matrixed environment
This role isn't for someone who wants a narrow lane. It's for a product leader who is comfortable owning an entire global category, making hard calls on investment and timing, and translating all of that complexity into footwear people actually want to wear. If that's the scale you've been building toward, this is about as senior as footwear product management gets outside of a Chief Product Officer seat.
